    General Directions

IMPORTANT TRAVEL INFORMATION for Buffalo Camp and Ride

    Avoid these routes:

    Directions from Mountain Parkway/Lexington/Winchester:

    1. Take I-64 to the Mountain Parkway.
    2. Follow the Bert T. Combs Mountain Parkway East to the Slade/Natural Bridge exit and follow KY-11 South to Booneville. Note: You will lose cell service shortly after passing through Booneville. Do not travel to Buckhorn from Booneville.
    3. At the junction of Highway 11, turn left towards Oneida.
    4. Stay straight; this road becomes Highway 1482. Do not take Little Bullskin Road or Whoopflarea Road.
    5. Follow Highway 1482 to Panco and turn onto KY Highway 484 (there is a large wooden church at this junction). Note: The two gas stations between Booneville and the campground are the only ones in the area. They do not sell alcohol.
    6. In 2.4 miles, make a sharp left turn onto KY 2022. A dirt bypass is available for larger trailers/campers; look for a “Buffalo Campground” sign on a power pole.
    7. Stay on KY 2022 (one lane) until you reach the top of the mountain (approximately 0.9 miles) and turn right onto Gaysmill Loop Road (the green road sign is on the left). If you miss this turn, you can veer right onto a gravel road at the bottom of the hill to reach the campground. KY 2022 is curvy and not ideal for large trailers/campers.
    8. Follow the dirt road for approximately 1 mile until you see the campground sign.

    Directions from Hal Rogers Parkway/Hazard/London:

    1. Follow the Hal Rogers Parkway to Exit 34 (Redbird Exit/Exit 66) and follow KY-66.
    2. Turn right in front of the gas station after exiting the parkway. At the end of that road, turn left towards Hyden.
    3. Take Highway 1482 to Oneida (a left turn in front of the T-Mart gas station). Note: This is the last gas station, and you will lose cell service until you reach the campground. This gas station has essentials but does not sell alcohol.
    4. Follow Highway 1482 to Panco and turn right onto KY Highway 484 (there is a church at this junction).
    5. In 2.4 miles, make a sharp left turn onto KY 2022. A dirt bypass is available for larger trailers/campers.
    7. Follow the dirt road for approximately 1 mile until you see the campground sign.
